Holy *hit dude, I just made it through every comment on every page of this thread.

Guess I'll say goodbye to six months wages come spring. My only saving grace is that I am waiting to start a government job that'll force me to retire at 56 and maybe just maybe I'll start in March. If I'm pushed until July or later you can expect me to be placing some orders with you.

I wonder if we can sleeve the stock axles.

Suck build dude, this is pretty much everything I wanted my 4runner to be, but I decided to sink too much money into my stock diffs so SAS is out of the question for a very long time and my *hit weighs 6000lbs.

I need some peanut butter because I'm super jelly right now

I spent the last week or 2 trying to figure out how I wanted to build my cage. Drawling after drawing and I couldn’t some up with something I was excited about. It’s hard to build a “cool” cage and also make it strong. There is a lot more engineering that goes into it then just sticking tube together with electricity.

I came up with a couple strong designs but they lacked character. Much like this one I drew up.

Today I was feeling extra motivated and decided to go out and just free hand the general shape. Not really knowing what I wanted I made a wish list.

Strong
Safe
Fit my co driver for hammers(he is 6.2)
Retain the roxor seat storage
Fit with a yj windshield and wiper motor.
Allow for a rear seat with plenty of headroom.
And of course look cool.

After a significant amount of time holding scrap tubes up in a web of ratchet straps and bungee cords to hold everything in place, decided to start cutting.

First to go was MOST of the stock cage. I decided to make things a hell of a lot easier and retain the B pillar body height and down. It is already 1.75 DOM and .120 wall. The same tubing I’m using on the new cage. I found some 1.5 .120 wall DOM tubing from previous roll cage build an and cut sections of it to sleeve the new cage into it. A perfect tight fit and also strengthening the tubes in a critical area.

Now with the B pillar up right I could start building around that.

Here is what I came up with free hand, because sometimes it’s best to just start cutting and bending with a vision in mind.

The hardest part so far was getting up rights for the dash bar. The factory switch panel is directly in the way so I had to get fancy to allow access to the switches.

I plan on spending most of my day tomorrow adding triangulation and bracing. I’m liking where this is headed!

Looking to buy
I have read this front to back multiple times.
The build just keeps getting better and better.
You must be getting close to Roxor Perfection.

Remember that rear end repair I did a while back with the home made bearing shim....... well something went BOOM over the weekend in a wide open 3rd gear hill climb. I’m excited to see how bad it failed!

I’m not too worried about it since it was already broken and “bandaided” back together. That’s the glory of the drop out third member differentials. Blow it up and swap it out. I already have the new one built and ready to drop in. I’ve been carrying it around in the trailer for a month waiting for this one to let go.

It made a pretty spectacular sound when it went. We will see!

Lol a spectacular sound is hearing fireworks on the Forth of July, a rear end blowing up sounds expensive and temporarily depressing.

Took a break from working on the Roxor this week. Decided to make a big move. I’m getting more and more request for custom work so I decided to finally pull the trigger on building a shop.

I have some awesome friends that have all lent a hand to get this far. I’m very thankful.
