I used the NAPA equivalent of the WIX 51626, the NAPA ProSelect 21626 and it appears to work well. $4.99 at local NAPA store so I stocked up on them.
great for diffs but it’s gl-5 and not gl-4 so it’s not good for trans or tcase. Has sulfur which will attack the yellow metals.Amsoil Severe gear 80w-90 for Trans, transfer case and differentials. 2x life over standard fluid

Idk how you found that. I really tried but I failed miserably until I found vp. I can't even tell which amsoil is API ck rated...[/URL]
Synthetic Manual Transmission Gear Lube meets 75W/80W-90 viscosity requirements and exceeds API GL-4 performance

I'm a dealer, Api is a standard rating for fluids to meet the minimum standard. Amsoil exceeds all the minimum. Remember all these ratings are what oils need to meet, Amsoil always goes above a beyond those ratings. Their products are so good that they put a warranty on the product not to cause failure in the applications. In essence I have a warranty on every part of my Roxor that I have Amsoil in. Can't get that with much of the fluids on the market.Idk how you found that. I really tried but I failed miserably until I found vp. I can't even tell which amsoil is API ck rated...
Thanks Tom...Here are some basic fluid information just for reference.
- Brake Fluid - SAE J1703 Dot 3 - .95 Quarts (.90 Liters)
- Engine Coolant - JIS K2234/ASTM D3306 - 8.5 Quarts (8.0 Liters)
- Engine Oil - API CJ-4 5W/40 (Full Synthetic) - 7.4 Quarts (7.0 Liters)
- Front & Rear Axle Gear Lube - GL-5 SAE 80W-90 - 1.9 Quarts (1.8 Liters)
- Power Steering Fluid - DEXRON III/Mercon - .63 Quarts (.60 Liters)
- Transfere Case Fluid - GL-4 SAE 80W90 - 1.7 Quarts (1.6 Liters)
- Transmission Fluid - GL-4 SAE 80W90 - 2.1 Quarts (2.0 Liters)
Amsoil all the wayI use all Amsoil
Since Amsoil seems to so highly recommended I have been looking for some to buy for my Transfer case and transmission. But I am somewhat confused, I realize that it must be GL-4 and labeled as safe for yellow metals I cannot find that on a Amsoil listing and the closest amsoil I can find to the recommended 85/90 is an 80/90
The spec sheet says that "Can also be used in axles where an API GL-4 lubricant is recommended." but does not mention transmission or yellow metals at all....
Please advise what amsoil gear oil will work....
Thanks....
