Austin is one of the few Liberal places left in the Loan Star State. .......Somthing about area all the way to San Antonio that feel comfortable......that’s where I am going for the winter.

My ass! Austin's disease has damn sure spread state wide. Houston, Dallas, Courpis, El Paso and nearly every city with large populations of certain type people's vote Left for a free ride. It's very scary.

The fact that Texas has no state income tax to pay for all of the no working, free loading leeches, my property taxes go up 8-10% per year. My simple 1800 sf house has gone from a total of $1200 a year in 1989 to my last bill of $5100 !

I pay nearly as much in taxes now with the house paid off as I was paying in principle 20 years ago. To damn many users compared to contributors. You know 75-100 years ago, if you did not own property or own a business that you could not vote! Wish that was still the case! ??

GL in the good fight down there. Cronys dont die easy.

The Texas sunset commission has the dmv rocking back on their heels with its scathing recent review. The lead of the sunset commission is senetor Brian Birdwell. He is a big supporter of keeping government out of the individuals rights and freedoms .

If you combine this idea with some caveats (minimum/maximum lot size for vote, only natural us citizens can own private property aka no trusts/corps, etc), I think the idea is very sound for state and county elections. Can prolly work for other layers of gov too, but would need some brain matter to make sure worse issues don't arise. At the end of the day, taxation (direct and indirect - your strife in TX is indirect taxation) is the fundamental issue. In many areas I've come in contact with, it has turned into the worst ramification of democracy (hint: were not a true democracy, which is a good thing if you value human rights), extortion by mob rule - which is a pin prick away from fascism (again the real word, not the hijacked term the media tosses around) if you're a student of history.

“ Your ass “ ...? I would say , from your tirade its more like an asshole senarao. Do you consider yourself a racist , a bigot ? Your remarks seem to indicate this......maybe to be fair you should take another look at the world around your small , the earth is flat , enviorement . “ Vote left for a free ride .” Give me a break ! There is more graft and corrupt activity , which will increase your property tax, when the Righties are in control. Cool down, open your mind a bit , and take another look at history, a non biased one. Maybe a visit to your Public Library is in order rather than the crazy talk comming out of Trumps foul mouth., you might learn , there is another side to everything ......stop the hate ....

Don't throw stones in a glass house. You've just removed all doubt to your bigotry. Let's keep the discourse civil and as enlightened as gearheads get :p

I think we can certainly all agree cronies exist in substantial numbers on both sides of the isle (if you want to distill US politics down to a tribal one-dimensional paradigm). Being a person living in an area with extremely different politics than your compass points to can be infuriating (I lived through that, so I can attest). I'm sure many can all agree with that. If we're going to jab, let's use soft jabs to strike more enlightened conversation if appropriate to the thread. I know I'm guilty of preaching as well, so I'm no saint here. We're all here for communal betterment. Let's try to remember that.

One thing is for sure , it IS all about history. It is a shame that in some schools history has all but eliminated , along with geography. It’s a sad state of affairs these days when people have no idea where they came from , and where they are going. ....and I agree, we are but a few steps away from Fascism. One more reason for a free press , let’s put to the scrap heap those misused words “ fake news”.....no room in this Republic I say !

Agreed, knowing history is the only way for humanity to progress. Sadly, so much history is hijacked and rewritten for political gain. Same is true for the definitions of words. Neither of these sins against humanity are unique to a political party. Saying as much is falling into a tribal trap of sword rattling over logic.

I might add our thoughts about history and Texas is a strange one. Texas must be from the start (1846 ) the most misquoted place on earth. The irony of it all is all the text books used by our youth comes from Texas ,! Oblivious rewrites have been inserted in the History books agenda ....convient.

This is case in many 'history' books. I would advise any parent of children in public schooling (and to a lesser extent private school but the issues do not seem nearly as bad) to take a very active role in what their kids ingest. The propaganda is very real but very regional as well. I worked in two different schools in the NE IL area and can say I was appalled by not only what was in some 'textbook' literature but also some things that came from the mouths of teachers. In that world I did work with others around the states, so it was interesting to see different struggles of others and how various viewpoints led to regional strife. My $.02, keep an eye on things and have a pulse on what "educators" may be shoving into your kid's head, it may well not be what you believe (whatever that may be). It's important to pass on who you are culturally, as well as genetically.

Sadly the erosion of factual history leads to simple biased interpretation of events. I don't mean this to get political again, but a great example of "massaged history" is none of than the rarely-correctly-sited Nazis of Germany in the 20s through 40s. The political party was the NSDAP, which stands for National Socialist German Workers' Party. Most people who throw the term around have no idea what they are actually saying. You will find many references in schools and on campuses to the political party but they often leave out several very important bits of history to politicize things. It's when "op ed" replaces historical accounting. Very dangerous activity, specially when paraphrasing a group that did/do truly horrific things. Only real knowledge ensures we never see them again, and by that, I mean not just when mostly identicle groups to Nazis label other, quite unrelated, groups as Nazis. The projection is real and terrifyingly unquestioned. We've reached a point where finding truth among the mud is an art form instead of basic ingestion of prose.

PS: Even Wikipedia mislabels this group for political gain.

Down thru the years, a reminder of huge effect was Columbus discovering America. Yes that was in the books since day 1. .Has that been amended of late, ? This was a good , cause and effect mistake ( lies ) . .........just think Columbus Day is still a national holiday and yet Columbus never set foot on US soil.

Back on track, BDRAG has a harsh fight in front of him. He's trying the right way. It's easy to shed the legal path and try to use these great vehicles in less than legal ways. That does this community, and IMO the vehicle itself, a disservice. It only plays into the ability for the cronies to spread BS lies. Anyone with specific knowledge to the process in TX should post it here or also gather a group with BDRAG to put pressure on the rats responsible for the safe legal usage of these fine machines in the great state of Texas.

GL down there, man.

Darstar, jrobz23., I hear both of you and I DID NOT INTEND for this thread to be over shadowed with other political comments other than those directly related to the Texas DMV taking away the rights of people and infringing on their freedoms to behave, act, build, participate in the activity of building something with their own hands and having that stripped away. The fact that the DMV board took it upon it's self to change the rules without consulting anyone outside the board or doing it through legislation is just wrong.

Darstar, I did post from the hip. Could I have been less offensive to others with differing opinions? Yes. I have never intentionally tried in my 20 years of forum posting to turn any thread into a fight over politics and don't want to start now.

So if you and I, WE, would just delete our exchange along with jrobz23, WE can keep this thread alive and active about the effort to get the state of Texas on board with following its own rules that apply to many other vehicles and not selecting a few certain types out to stop or eliminate as they feel to target.

Deal?

UPDATE: 10/31/18

I received a call from my state representatives office today inquiring about all the above stuff. I just sent him the DMV email where I was shot down, the letter I made for the senators and reps, all the info when I tried to register as a replica. and a lot of info I have read and watched about what the DMV is trying to do across the board to rob us of our rights. So we will see. This is the second person in the state government system to contact me. Fingers crossed.

UPDATE: 3/9/19

Texas HB 1755 was introduced into the house for consideration. This is the bill that the Texas Coalition for assemble vehicles / Save the Texas dune buggy and kit cars pushed through. There is a version entered into the senate as well.

WELL DONE GUY'S. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! Use the system against the system?

This may, MAY provide an avenue to LEGAL REGISTRATION. I have been comunicating since last fall with my state representatives office. They have been interested and responded to my emails about the registration issues due to the title stating for off-road use only. I have kept them informed about the above organizations effort in this matter.

I sent my reps office a portions of the bill that I think will or may apply to the roxor. They responded to my email and informed me that they are turning my information over to their staff to reserch this and claim they will respond to me. WOW! Go Matt Shaheen!

I will keep updating as I find out more. FINGERS CROSSED!

i scanned the legislation link above. Under the first Section 731.001 in A., B., and E. The Roxor is excluded by the language of the bill. I don’t see the point in pushing this legislation based on my interpretation.

However, I do think that gettting legislation passed is the key to doing it legally. Again, Mahindra went to a lot of trouble to make this NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE.

All that matters is that the Federal level stays out of it. The states do their thing. If you think about it, this is kinda working as intended, in a weird sorta way.
