Oil dipstick hard hard to insert

Minor issue but annoying...
Is it just me or have others had a hard time re-inserting the dipstick?
Mine seems to be getting harder to insert; it seems to catch on the full-empty notches and requires multiple tries. I don't want to force it, so I keep trying and suddenly it will slip right down. A mechanic friend who does oil changes all day had the same problem - took him several tries.

As the dipstick is flat and the jouney down the pipe is bent it is hard to put in unless you turn it so the flat can bend through the pipe. It will not go on edge through the turns.
