So I installed a set of Mile marker hubs on a budget. Was there any steps prior to install where you disengage the wheel so when hubs are installed they are free and open. Reason i ask is i briefly put into 4x4 and had 4x4 without locking them in.

Installed mine and had no issues. Did you add a little grease when installing them??

Yes, but if they are automatically engaged before hub install how is just adding them they are somehow disengaged?

You engage and disengage them by rotating the center dial. This slips the gear into place and locks the hub. If you rotate it to free it pulls that gear out and the wheel spins freely.

Yes but without the hub it was already active. Once you install hub it is already locked in but the dial comes in the free spot. Shouldn't you disengage the hub before the lockers get installed so the dial is correct

According to the directions you need to move it to lock and back to free to make sure they are locking and unlocking. So they should ship with them in the free position. Installation is pretty straight forward so everything should be moving freely. What model mile markers did you order??

Everything works correctly. Where in southern AZ are you at? I used to hunt the Huachuca mountain range years ago.

Right next door. Been whitetail hunting all around that Base. Back in the 90s. Saw more illegals than deer
