Traded a JD Gator for a Roxor, and love it!
Use it mainly for work and hunting around the ranch, with a little county road driving to town.
The only thing I really miss about the Gator is the drop tailgate-
So many uses for the drop tailgate, work bench, seat, extension of the bed, etc.
Any one know of a mod kit or done one themself?
Surly there is a way to take the swing tailgate and modify to drop tailgate-
I don’t carry a spare tire-
Thanks guys-

That looks awesome-
Do you have some close ups of the latches and hinge- (open & closed)?
Any tips or tricks in the conversion-
Thinking I will weld in some steel to strengthen and plate to cover.

I’ll get some close pics this evening. The only place that needed any extra, was a spacer between the bottom of hinge and body.

Can you give some details on how you did it?
Did you reuse the hinges?
Did you need a doubler on the truck or tail gate where hungers mounted?
What did you do for latches?
Is the tail gate level with the bed when down?
Do you have some additional pictures?

Sorry. Been busy and have not had time to get better pics and describe how I did it. I’ll have time this afternoon when I get home from work and shoot you some info.

I'm thinking that the factory doesn't use a drop gate because a swing out is much more effective method for spare tire mount. Drop down would be heavy and somewhat awkward with spare wheel and tire mounted. Other than that a drop down makes a lot of sense.

I used the Roxor hinges and a piece of 1/2 square tubing for a spacer between the hinge and body. The latches and cables are all Jeep CJ parts and I installed the cables so the tailgate sits slightly at an upward angle from the bed.

You may have to use solid blocks instead of tubing for the hinge spacers.
It feels tight now but it's going to loosen up in time.
Good job!

I put spacers inside the square tubing. Forgot to mention that on my last post. Thanks for jogging my memory.
