Currently we have only been able to register a roxor with a full size plate in Montana, but it depends on the town, as some towns will issue an MC plate. Ours has a full size plate and is labeled as "LL" which means SUV. Most states will not title it this way though. Most states will still keep the branding of offroad on the title or will label it as "STREET LEGAL" and body type QD (4 wheel motorcycle)

We have yet to see a Roxor registered in Michigan yet after the law changed but that might be the best option at this time. It should make insurance a bit easier as well if the DMV is issuing a new VIN.

There can only be one VIN no. Or , Michigan has made their own rules that would only apply in Michigan.....Being the Roxor is made in Michigan May have something to do with it.

Everything starts with the MSO, e it cars, trucks, or any kind of machinery, vehicles or not. Once you apply for Michigan title, sales tax will be due. Currently the average Roxor around 1200.00.....Mi is not a good state to start with title.

From the research we have done Michigan issues a new VIN and classifies the vehicle as "ASSEMBLED" The process you described is similar to what we offer, and we could offer this service for you in Michigan, IF the didn't require vehicle inspections. This greatly increases the cost since you will have to ship your Roxor to their state. I don't believe there is any way around that.

When I get the full size plate and is labeled as "LL" in Montana, can I transfer that to Minnesota?

That would be up to your DMV. As of recently, Montana is hit or miss with a MC or Car plate, so there's no guarantee that you will be able to receive a full size plate from Montana.

Have any of your customers had luck in Maine and/or New Hampshire? Either the assembled or MC plate?

We have done out of state tags for customers in nearly every state, without having any issues. In most cases the tag will continue to be renewed, but may not transfer. We do not offer assembled vehicle plates, only motorcycle plates using the Vehicles original PIN/VIN.

So when you say MC plates issued in nearly every state, are you saying the plates were issued directly by these states to their residents or are you saying you have provided a SD plate to residents of nearly every state?

They get sd plates for anyone. typically the buyers think they’re street legal in their home state but in actuality they may not be. Any “small” plate in Texas is not street legal. However that same roxor with that SD plate would be legal in SD and possibly other states such as AZ and UT just not in their home state of Texas. Works great as long as the buyer knows their limitations. In the end it’s your roxor that will be subject to impound as well as fines. I highly suggest anyone getting out of state plates to thoroughly research the laws in their home state as well as the state they wish to plate in.

I had my Rox in Texas all winter. I have Montana small plates. Did not go on the main rds much, but around the rural areas , and in town , never had a problem.

We provide an out of state plate for customers in most states. Currently only a few states will allow you to register in state, which is why most will receive an out of state plate. It is always recommended to check with the local police first to see if you will have any issues, but from our experience there aren't any hassles. We have customers in FL and many other states driving their Roxor's daily.

Talked with MO DOR yesterday and ran hypothetical question:

If I purchased a MI Roxor that was titled and registered and brought to MO, would MO issue the same title and registration? NO!!!! It is a UTV by policy and will never be titled in this state.

SD plates absolutely won’t work here if you’re a MO resident. If the vehicle has been in the state for more than 30 days, you risk an improper registration ticket and any other moving violation ticket. So you will be back to where you started in short order but with a trail of legal hassle and all the expense incurred getting the SD title.

MO offers ag use with SMV emblem with 45 mph limit. Fine if you’re a farmer but sucks if you’re not.

All this talk about out-state registration is dandy and may work for awhile but sooner or later, your nutz will be in a vice

Out of state tags are perfectly legal when the vehicle is registered under a business name such as an LLC. The 30 day rule no longer applies. In most states, out of state tags aren't enforced so an LLC isn't necessary but some states it is worth to set it up for no hassles.

LLC owned vehicles are just that . You are considered a “ member” of the LLC. No place on the Title does your personal name appear. One of the reasons there are thousands of Montana plates all over North America, on all kinds of vehicles, motor coaches especially. Usually when you see SD plates the owners are “ full timers “.

Agreed, both states are very popular for out of state vehicle registrations, Montana more so of course because of the no vehicle tax.

So Dirt, do you have a SD LLC for clients or do clients do their own?

Due to liability reasons we are unable to use our own LLC, but instead we will set up an llc for clients for around $249 or they can use their own LLC.
