Hello guys

I recently learnt that Roxor recommends performing the first oil change at 300 miles, followed by oil changes every 1,500 miles. This interval seems unusually short, especially considering that they also recommend using synthetic oil. In most diesel engines, high-quality synthetic oil typically remains effective for at least 3,000 miles, if not longer.

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind Roxor’s maintenance schedule? Is there a specific mechanical or operating characteristic of the Roxor engine that justifies such frequent oil changes? Would using a conventional diesel-rated oil (instead of synthetic) actually pose any issues for this engine?

I assume that Roxor may be basing its recommendation on the expectation that many vehicles will operate under severe-duty conditions—such as low-speed operation, heavy loads, dusty environments, or prolonged idling—which can accelerate oil contamination.

I’d appreciate hearing what others have experienced or concluded regarding oil type and service intervals.

Additionally, does anyone know of any reliable aftermarket oil filters compatible with the Roxor, so that we aren’t limited to purchasing OEM replacements?

Thanks in advance for any information.

The reason for the 300 mile initial oil change is due to getting out any metal shavings/etc from the initial engine break in. After that initial oil change you can start your regular 3-5k mile oil changes. I did this with everything - transmission, diffs, transfer case, etc. Maybe not necessary but did find some shavings in each. I run Schaeffers 5w-40 synthetic with the Mahindra oem filter.

I changed my oil a week or so ago. I used a NAPA Gold 1324 Oil Filter, and 5W40 Rotella T6 Oil.
Some real world information on Oil Filter Quality would be nice.
Considering bearing quality, etc I have a hard time believing the NAPA Gold Oil Filter is not as good or better than the Indian made filter.

Used the exact oil and filter as Bob. Been using those since the "Great Covid Supply Shortage". Filters are much less expensive, easier to find, and the oil is on sale a few times a year. No problems and still runs great! 😃
