My short cable broke last year, pulled the tit right off the cable at the lever. My half seized long cable did not help. I replaced both cables.

I keep them in stock and they are not too difficult to change.

I saw this today and thought I would ask. I am having to pull the brake handle quite a bit further than when it was new. I had help doing some winching and found out they were using the hand brake. They pulled it as hard as they could. I can not see a broken or stretched out cable. Where is the cable braking?

On another related note, I felt as if the brake is set when the handle is down. Cables were loose so I thought that one of the brakes were stuck. After jacking and spinning each wheel easily, I don't understand the drag when coasting to a stop. Bad bearings are showing with the weight of the vehicle since they spin easy on jacks?

There is an adjustment under the cab to take up some cable stretch. Mine Pulled the lead tip from the lever in the cab.

Bad bearings will definitely make brakes lock up differently when on jack stands, and these cables are susceptible to seizing from getting dirt in.

I may have to pull the rear drums and look. I'm taking the front apart next to install locking hub assy's.

Looks like my short cable went out. No tension on the handle. How tough to replace? I ordered the replacement cable

Easy peasy. Sometimes the molded tip that hooks in the lever comes off.

Sometimes tho long cable will seize giving a similar "no tension" issue, but when the short cable breaks you have further range of travel at the lever.

Good. Yeah, no tension at all on the lever. Crawled underneath and the long cable looks good. I’ve got a 2018. Once I get the new cable, I’ll get it done. I may have a question or three when that time comes! BTW, I ordered the replacement cables from you…thanks!

Thanks for your business!

Pro tip: put a clamp or vise grip on the pully bracket adjustment nuts after you get the cable mounted in the body hole, before hooking back into the lever. A little gravity will keep tension on the cable so it doesn't come unhooked from the lever itself. It will make sense when you get to that point, but that was the "hardest" part. Without the cable being pulled back, the little tit will jump out of the lever when you put it down.
