Why not a contest from Roxor to improve the front end looks?

Let's face it, the redesigned Roxor just looks awful. Roxor blew it on that redesign. I was thinking Roxor should run a contest to have their customers re-design the looks of the Roxor. Clearly their guys were not up to the task, maybe one of the fans of the brand could do better? They would have to judge if the design would keep them in compliance with whatever deal they agreed to with J**P. What do you guys think?

I'm no engineer, but I would think that would take more than just design submissions. However, it is a great idea in concept.

I try and look at the positive side of things, when I drive my ‘23 I have no worries that someone will try to steal that ugly f*’%@“. I lock both doors on my 2018, it’s beautiful.

The problem is Mahindra originally tried to satisfy the court by just changing the grill in the 2020 model. While it was ugly, it kept the tapering hood and close set headlights, but was still not ugly enough. Mahindra was forced to widen the headlight spacing and the hood which is why it looks so bad now. You could easily make a new grill and reduce the headlight spacing, but unless you also replaced the hood, it will still look wrong with those unused spaces outboard of the reduced headlight spacing. Maybe you could add another set of lights in that unused space, but it will still just look wrong. Face it, we all like the original look of old, but that is now trade dress. At least we got the flat fender back, and buying a new Roxor with a diesel engine and Data 44 copies is far easier than restoring an old CJ-2A and putting in a diesel Kubota reefer engine.

I like the idea, sounds fun and a great way to get high quality input!
I haven’t been on here long enough to know if there’s a way for people to submit drawings/photoshopped pictures. Then have people vote on them. I could pass the top 3 designs to our CAD team to create real renderings and potentially create aftermarket options from them.

I prefer the new design. I have a Jeep; I don't want the Roxor to look like a Jeep.

I'd guess a flat fender conversion from On The Rox combined with a big winch or brush guard would go a good ways of making the new front end look okay.

I seem to recall some speculation that the MD Juan CJ5 front end would fit. Did anyone ever try this route?

Lastly, I had wanted to see Roxor mimic the Ford M151 front end with the redesign. I believe that would have been hard to call intellectual property of Jeep when it was a military vehicle made by Ford. But anyway, here we are.

I guess my point is that if you look at all of the side by side makers: (the big five: Honda, Polaris, Yamaha, Can-Am, Kawasaki) and then all of the others like Suzuki, John Deere, and a myriad of Amazon-type Chinese clones, the Roxor is the Cyrano de Bergerac of the group. My opinion is that most of these others have better looking offerings. It just seems like the folks at Roxor let their legal department play "designer" for the day.

I have a 2019 Model, which I love. I have grown to appreciate the look of the new front end. I have seen some pictures of what members have done to them and with a few upgrades they look great.

I think the new models should have probably incorporated the same slant roll bar design as the old ones had. Except for ease of cab enclosure install, why cut it? What did it hurt?

Mahindra did not want you having rear seat passengers, that is why they quit selling the rear seats and the rear slant ROPS.

Diesel Freaks sells a rear passenger ROPS conversion and factory Thar jump seats can be ordered off eBay.

They don’t exactly have a great record for doing the smartest thing in the US. The bars made the machine look balanced and much better IMO and in no way encouraged a rear seat install. Not to mention, I’m sure front seat safety would be improved with them there.

Check out OTR, ask them to show you their prototype grill, it's a major upgrade from the stock frame of 2022+
