How to End up with a full size license plate?

How can I end up getting a full size license plate for the roxor? What creative things that are legal for me to do in order to get a full-size plate. I do not care what state plates it has but it needs to be registered ultimately in Florida. I do not wish to spend any more than what is required in order to achieve this task

I know motorcycle plates from SD is a viable option but they do look kind of funny looking

Michigan you can convert it to an assembled vehicle legally. But you’ll need an address there and the Roxor as well. And it’ll take some time to go thru the process. Plus you’ll need Michigan car insurance which I’m told is pricey compared to other states. So once you get all that squared away and the Roxor there with the required street legal mods then it has to be inspected and then an app sent off and later the state highway patrol I believe comes out and inspects it again and slaps the new vin on it. It takes several weeks from start to finish from what I understand. Get it done and let me know how it goes cause I’d like to do the same. I’ve yet to see anyone from out of state that wasn’t buying off a dealer lot get this done.

I am in Naples, Florida and purchased my Roxor in Michigan (I am from there originally). The process was slow just because Michigan DMV used a drop box for the dealers paperwork (covid rules). That was a nightmare for the dealer. Anyway, once the Roxor was outfitted with the DMV required equipment to make it street legal a LEO inspected it and signed off on it. The dealer then delivered the final paperwork to the DMV. I supplied the insurance paperwork for the Roxor and the DMV gave the dealer my plate. My insurance cost me $200.00 for the year.

A day or two later a State Vehicle Inspector called me to inspect the Roxor and put the new Assembled DMV VIN number on the vehicle. The inspector drove 2 1/2 hours the next day to inspect it and install the VIN. My brother drove it to his house the next day.

NOTES:

1. Michigan DMV told me the Roxor had to be purchased in Michigan. I don't think that is actually true. Michigan did require the Bill of Sale though.
2. I used my brother's address as my Michigan Business Office address. I had to register my business there, that cost me @ $200.00.
3. I received a standard vehicle plate and the title read an Assembled Utility Vehicle.

My brother brought the Roxor to Florida.

This last week I was attempting to transfer the vehicle to Florida.

1. The Florida DMV looked at the Roxor and said, we will title it as a vehicle just like a Jeep and provide a standard vehicle plate, even though the VIN information shows it as a Motorcycle type vehicle.

2. The Florida DMV said that the vehicle needs to be inspected here and they will put Another VIN number on the vehicle.

3. The DMV looked at my Florida insurance which cost me $234.00 for the year. They told me I needed PIP insurance on the Roxor before they could issue the plate. This is the problem at the moment.

4. The insurance companies that I use do not offer PIP for a motorcycle type vehicle here in Florida, because that is what the VIN number designates the vehicle as. My insurance, Progressive, gave me a brokers number to call to see if he could wrangle up some form of PIP for me. I have not called them as of yet.

Just received my insurance quote for @ $100.00 per month vehicle insurance with PIP. I will get my Florida full vehicle plate.

I will let you know after I get my plate.

New Update

Now the insurance company that offered me a policy rescinded it. Now the broker is looking for a new insurer who will offer PIP on the insurance coverage.

I don't have a full size plate. My Roxor is registered as a mini truck. For the registration insurance is one of the requirments. It was giant uphill battle trying to get a real plate here in Louisiana with the MSO from Mahindra saying off road vehicle on it. I was going for an assembled vehicle but when they saw that it a challenge. The Mini Truck registration in Louisiana lets me drive on all roads with speed limit 55 MPH and less.

Currently, I can drive my Roxor anywhere on a highway in Florida with my Michigan plates. I have seen many people here with South Dakota motorcycle plates driving around in actual side by side vehicles.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with getting the FL tag. From what I read, you sound determined. Please let us know. If you can get an FL plate when said and done, that would be impressive and quite a feat to conquer. FL is very challenging in getting a full size plate.

By the way those THARS I mentioned in another post of mine, would qualify for a full-size plate. And I got the overall anticipated price to around $45K. I shall meet with the distributor next month. I'm thinking about selling my Roxor and getting a soft top THAR, comes with the comfort features, yet has a soft top I can take off
