Generater light stays on

Not even 2 months old and the dealership has had it as much as me. Generated light stays on and then my battery is dead. They tell me this is normal and won't refund money or give me another machine. I'm very discusted. Any ideas?

Wow, that does not sound “normal”. Any way you can test the output of your alternator to see how many volts it’s putting out?

Did that and the output was low. Dealer gave me a larger battery ( which seemed to me it should have had the correct size battery since I bought it new) and a few days later the light was back on. Next they tried a new alternator. A week later my Roxor wouldn't start again...battery dead. I'm thinking it must be in the electronics and still trying to have the dealer resolve the problem. Very worried that I have a defective machine.

My guess is defective cluster, in the older models our batteries wouldn’t charge if the cluster wasn’t hooked up. Sounds like you should at least talk to a different dealer since yours isn’t much help.

There is a diode in the fuse block that needs to be reversed. Look up Diesel Freaks on YouTube and Wade will show you how to fix this issue

My 2023 Roxor has been great. Today at 16f was my first sign of trouble. It fired right up. I waited a few minutes for the battery light to extinguish, but it did not. My volt meter was only showing 12.1vdc. I drove around a bit hoping for the best. The voltage remained at 12.1vdc. I checked the fuse labled alt excitation (5 amp). 12.1 vdc on both sides. The single wire going to the alt had nothing on it.

The older wire diagram does not show an excitation fuse. I am guessing the ecu is controlling the alternator field winding? Any link to the wiring manual for the 2023+ Roxor?
I checked a couple more things. The two terminals for the field are open. Open to each other and to ground. Zero volts for excitation. Since I have 12vdc at the excitation fuse and zero at the alternator single wire, I'm thinking the ECU is the control. I do not have a ground on either terminal on the alternator nor do I have a ground on the single wire going to the field winding.

I set out today to double check a few things. I did put a trickle charger on it overnight. With the alternator not supplying power yesterday, the battery voltage was getting low. So I verified that the two terminals on the alternator do not have power or ground and no continuity. 13.1vdc at the post on the alternator. I was going to see if one of those terminals had voltage with the engine running, but after starting, I saw 14.7vdc on the meter and the battery light went out. It is 20deg warmer than yesterday.

Now I'm guessing that the single wire is just a sense wire. Why it didn't work yesterday is still a mystery.
