Hey everyone, I'd like to ask, I would like to know if there is a cheaper agency to help me get South Dakota plates? The cheapest package from dirt legal is 700 dollars. I've been a long time customer with them and looking for a better and cheaper alternative

Thank you for your time in and consideration

I'd really would love to do it myself, but I don't know how. I tried finding out the exact steps but couldn't find it. Could you please point me in the right direction? I can do all of it via online without needing to drive to south Dakota?

Let’s not reinvent The wheel here. You have a copy of your current/expired tag? Get the county info off of it if it’s there. If not get the county and google it. Call them and tell them you want to renew it. They should be able to get you fixed up.

I appreciate the input; however, this will be for a second roxor from the dealership. So I am starting from scratch. I know I can do it, but I strongly believe I must go to South Dakota. That wouldn't be practical for me

Dirt Legal was a good option that I chose because even in living in MN I was nearly 5 hours away from the nearest SD DMV. That is 10 hours of my time, 10 hours of driving, fuel, and all, I thought it was worth it to have them take care of all the paperwork for $700 and send me the plate and documents

It can all be done in the mail yourself and you’d save several hundreds of dollars. I guarantee you dirt legal is just doing it via mail as well.

I am not law enforcement or any type of expert on licensing these machines. I was able to put a SD smaller license plate (Same size as MN motorcycle plate) on mine with dirt legal taking the time to do the paperwork for me. The leg work that it would have taken me to register and license was well worth their time and payment. TX and IL and other states may have different laws that could make things easier or more difficult. Just stating my experience as of now.
