I have the Warn M8000 on my Wrangler MOAB. It is exactly what I wanted wanted on my Jeep. I located the kit to Center Mount the Control Pack on the top. I have the LOOK I was after, as well as a quality winch.

For the Roxor I have been looking at the Harbor Freight Badlands ZXR9500 Winch. I am more concerned with Function over having WARN on the front of the Winch. For One Third the cost of a Warn M8000, I am pretty sure I will not be able to tell any difference between the two in use. If the ZXR9500 quits before a Warm M8000 would, I can replace it twice for what the M8000 costs to start with. I know lots of folks with Badlands Winch's in my area, and all are perfectly happy with them. My research convinced me that the ZXR9500 was the right size, and the Best Ban for my Bucks in a winch.

I did it a little different. First I found a used warn x8000i used for 200. Put new solenoids to get it working and some harbor freight synthetic line. Then I found a new superwinch 10k winch at our shop that had been in storage for several years. Swapped the warn to that since it was a new 10k winch. Put the warn up for another day/vehicle. Then I found a guy wanting to swap a warn 8274 for a regular feet down winch. Like an even swap. So I jumped all over that and swapped that warn for it. So I ended up with an 8274 for about $500 Which is about what I had all in that warn. I put new battery cables and some synthetic line from tactical recovery equipment on the 8274 and built my own plate to fit the Roxor. Wouldn’t have any other winch on my Roxor. The 8274 is about as bullet proof and rebuildable/modifiable as you can get. Plus it’s iconic for an old school jeep style build. every Roxor should have one IMO.

A buddy of mine rebuilt one of those for his Ramcharger build. You very seldom see one in the wild :)
He said the same thing, they are as Bullet Proof and Rebuildable as a winch gets.

txroadkill You did a great job on your Roxor. It looks like a Roxor should look. Well "WILLYS" Decals on the Hood would be even better. I cannot tell from the front picture, WILLYS may be on the hood. Great Front Bumper by the way. I need to sell my front Shackle Mount, and get the Cecco set. The Cecco ones you have are much better built than the first set that I bought.

As high as USA Built Warn Winch's are, 40% off is a good start. The M8000 could stand to be 50% or more off. In my humble opinion $500 is plenty high for a new M8000.

Best winch I ever owned or saw anyone else own was a 12K Mile Marker Hydraulic Winch. After owning this winch, I would never own anything else. This winch runs off your power steering pump and is plumbed in line between your power steering pump and power steering gearbox. You simply open a valve on the winch that diverts the hydraulic flow to the winch's bullet proof Dan Foss Hydraulic motor. This winch has a 100 percent duty cycle which means it can run as long as you can keep your engine running, unlike most electric winches which have a 10 percent duty factor. It was not fancy, no remote controls or electronics, just pure bullet proof hydraulics. I had it on a highly customized 1988 Jeep Grand Wag I made into an offroad beast and took it all over the country in numerous Jeep Jamborees many years ago. On one Jamboree 4 electric winches were burned up in one morning run. I ended up moving to the front of the line and after climbing to the top of the hill winched everyone else up the hill that could not climb it. After everyone saw it in action, they were ready to junk their electric winches.

I couldn't agree more. I have Mile Marker winches myself and I'll never go back to electric ever again.

Electric winches are hard on a vehicles standard battery and charging system if used often. Plus, they generate a lot of heat under heavy or long pulls, and that heat is transferred to the drum and if you're running synthetic rope, heat is never a good thing for that rope. Newer synthetic ropes handle heat a little better, but it's something you still have to be careful with. If you're running wire rope, then it's not an issue.

I swapped all mine out with synthetic rope, and I went a little smaller in diameter. For what I needed, I went from 3/8" to 5/16" since the synthetic rope is stronger than wire rope, and my capacity almost doubled on the winch, and the weight was cut by 20 pounds or so. You can never have too much rope on your winch.

Here's a good drum capacity calculator for winches.
