I'm a noob to the off road, 4 wheel world.

I'd guess that Rockers are newer, better technology but I don't know.

Are the OEM lock outs adequate for general [non-extreme rock crawling] For logging road 4wd or such?

Thanks

Not sure what your talking about exactly. Lock outs as in locking hubs? Or lockers as in differential lockers for added traction?

Yes, exactly.

I've seen 2 youtube ROXOR videos where the owner has switched from OEM to rockers. Seems to my uneducated mind they do the same thing. Why go through the trouble?

How are they different? Different in design or different in function? Are they made differently and do the same thing or do they do different things. My understanding is they do the same thing?

great video. Both provide 4 wd.... using different systems. (y)

Are lockers better than lock outs?

The roxor's front axle turns all the time which allows to shift into 4 wheel drive without getting out of your driver's seat . The locking hubs allow the front wheels to spin like a 2wd when unlocked. Locking diffs, work on keeping both wheels spinning at the same rpm no matter the conditions. The roxor has open differentials which means if one wheel gets stuck the other one will spin and all the torque will go to the spinning wheel. With locked diffs the torque will continue to go to the stuck wheel to help free it and both wheels will try and spin at the same rpm.

Locking hubs are unnecessary and a common failure point. Just go with a good selectable differential locker.

Selectable hubs that are locked and non selectable hubs both transmit torque from the axle shafts. An unlocked selectable hub will not transmit power. A locker (locking differential) locks both axle shafts together on an axle. An open differential will transmit more power to a wheel with lower traction or allows the tires to rotate at different speeds in a turn.
