Decided to replace my factory side-facing rear seats with something more comfortable. After a bunch of research, I decided to go with the aftermarket LR series I/II/III and Defender rear seats. I wanted to keep the stock seat backs with the ROPs crossmember so I had to get something that had a separate seat and back, so that I could just install the seat bottom.

It you don't plan on covering the 4 seat Roxor with the factory 2/4 pax enclosure (soft/hard) then you can just leave the seat back cross-member attached with clamps as per the factory install, however, if you do want to add a cover, you have to remove the clamps, flip the crossmember over so that it moves inside the vehicle a bit, and doesn't protrude and interfere with the enclosure. To flip it, I had the choice of welding it in place or drilling two holes in each ROPs pillar (B and C) to attach the crossmember with M6 x 60mm bolts. Worked out pretty well and doesn't interfere with the door close-out panels at all.

I ordered my LR seats from Bearmach in the UK which for some reason is way cheaper (and faster) to get to Canada than from Roversnorth in the US. If you're ordering from the US and live in the US then I recommend checking Roversnorth out.

I also installed the 4 seat soft enclosure at at the same time. The install was straightforward but the canvass top was tight as hell. Not sure why it needs to be that way, our old Land Rovers and Land Cruisers in Africa all had mil spec canvass tops that out-lasted the vehicles and they flapped around a bit at speed but you could roll-up the windows and sides, and the heavy duty canvass held up for years hunting in thick thorn bushes and trees. This enclosure feels like it'll pop and deflate like balloon at first contact with a branch. I'll see how it holds up but can see myself having to have a custom heavy-duty canvas sides / rear cover made.

Anyway, hope you guys like it and let me know if you have any questions.

Is there a way to use the seat backs that came with the seats? Also, is it possible to put two one each side? Thanks...

Hi Leslie,

WRT the seat backs, yes you could use them, they would require a cross brace between the B and C pillars of the ROPs so that the backs could be attached to. The backs are attached by bolting the bottom of the bracket to the wheel well, and the middle to the body (in a Land Rover the bed sidewall is taller). In the Roxor, you'd have to put a simple crossmember in place (the one that I have with the factory seats also works to attach the new seat backs). The photos below should give you a good idea of what you'd need to do.

Ref you question about two on each side, yes, they'd fit. The seats are 19.5 inches wide at their widest (measured from the each of the mounting brackets on the seat bottoms) and the Roxor has 40 inches available between the B and C pillars. You'd have to extend the surface of the wheel arches (perhaps using marine grade plywood) to give you the required length, but two seats would fit.

Hope that helps, let me know if you need any more photos or measurements.

Cheers
