I put a new Power Steering pump in my Roxor
And a larger size (8”x12” 8core) transmission cooler inline on the return line

I put the front end on jack stands and with the engine off turned it lock to lock about 4 times
Topped off the fluid

Started it and when lock to lock 15x’s

Checked the fluid

Then backed it in the Cul de Sac lock to lock a couple times

It whines like there is air in the system, I have power assist but it doesn’t feel like full power

Should I try the lock to lock system again?
Engine off ?
Engine on?
Or get a Vacuum Pump and try that method?

What do you guys think?

OK, you need to vacuum bleed the system to get all the air out

Off, with vacuum , back and forth 10x’s
Idle, with vacuum, 30x’s back and forth

Looking to buy
Since you added a cooler, you might have to unbolt it and move it up and down and tilt it back and forth, while someone turns your steering wheel back and forth with the engine at an idle, and get the cooler lower than your pump, to get all the air out. Look and see if the cooler is mounted higher than your pump, and if it is, it can be hard to get all the air out of the system sometimes.

The pump turns so fast that you get microbubbles in the oil if not vacuumed and filled. Will take several times of adding oil after bubbles settle out. This is common of all pressurized oil systems. If you don't have a schnazzy vac bleeder, take the belt off and use a low speed right angle drill to turn the pump without agitating fluid too much, and have someone cut the wheel for you.

It only took me 20+ years of vehicle repair to finally aquire a couple styles of fancy vac bleeders, and I will say that the job you have now is not going to be the last thing you use the tool for, and is worth the investment.
