Hello All,

I thought I would share an item on tires today.

I wanted tall tires to cut down on my RPMs since I have the 5.38 gears and wanted it street legal. I thought, based on the tire calculators that I read, I could go with 35 inch tires with minimal work (read as costs).

I had trouble finding 35 inch tires that fit a 16 x 10 inch rim. I ended up buying the Crawler XG tire in 35x10 R16. After reading more about tires I was not aware that tires were not all speed rated. There was no indication that the Crawler XG tire had a speed rating in their description so when I received them I found that they had a 50 mph speed rating. What luck.

They look good on the Roxor but it appeared that on the front they would strike the fender wells and maybe the frame on a tight turn. I ended up putting 2 inch wheel spacers on the axles (front and rear) to get my clearance. These came from Diesel Freak. I may need to add a lift kit because my rear tire comes within an inch of the front of the fender lip. My suspension is stiff so it is probably good as long as I avoid striking pot holes.

On the front end I needed to add a 3 inch steel spacer between the frame and the bumper. I just ordered these special from an online metal shop.

I keep the tires at 35 lbs. for driving on the street but I may cut down air pressure to see if I gain any advantage. I am going to do a heat test before and after driving to see how much heat I am producing on the tread and the sidewalls. Also, the tires are not too loud on the street. They do put out a high pitched hum but not as bad as I expected.
