HI,
I got a Torq locker installed in the rear, and it makes the normal ratchet sounds one would expect. But, once in a while it makes a severe "clunk" sound, I mean loud. Is that something normal just breaking in or do I have an issue? I havent driven it but a half mile, and from the odometer it appears the shop put a mile on it.
Just wondering if that could possible be normal. It made the noise twice. Once when coming off the trailer and once making a corner slow. Both times in the gravel (non pavement).
Thanks!

Did you ever figure out the clunking noise? I’m considering Torq lockers and I was hoping you would provide your opinion. Thanks!

Sounds like original thread issue was maybe they were just real tight being new and needed to wear in a bit, or worse, maybe they were installed incorrectly, possibly with too much shimming making them too tight and occasionally binding up and building up a significant amount of torque before releasing. In my experience this should not be happening. I installed Lock-Rite lunch box lockers in both front and rear Dana 44 builds and loved them. They were bullet proof, ratcheted smoothly, and worked great for me. I never experienced the loud popping sound, and would definitely install lunch box lockers again, if I needed lockers. Keep searching the threads, there are numerous members who have installed them and been satisfied with them.
