The WHEN came earlier this week. When discussing the Power Steering Return Hose on a Roxor you always get the same story. It is not IF it will fail, but WHEN will it fail. My Return Hose split just above the bottom hose clamp. I have now had my Roxor 26 Months.
The factory hose is installed with squeeze type hose clamps.
You take a single screw retaining the Power Steering Reservoir out, and pull the Reservoir up off the mounting bracket. You can then remove the upper end of the hose form the bottom of the Reservoir. Easy part over. I could not get pliers on the bottom clamp from underneath. I could not reach it from the top either. I believe that you could back off the adjustment screw and also loosen the Pivot Bolt and swing the pump down for better access. (I did not do this)
What I did was go to the Pawn Shop and pick up an old metal shear that had enough reach to get to the hose clamp from above. The metal shear worked like a long reach pair of pliers. After getting the bottom hose clamp off it was fairly easy to get the Diesel Freak Hose installed. I used a 5/16 Socket and Ratchet to tighten the bottom hose clamp from underneath. I tightened the top hose clamp with a screw driver. Put the Reservoir back in the Bracket and reinstall the screw. I ended up using one 12 OZ Power Steering Fluid, and about half of a second 12 OZ bottle to fill it back up. I was worried for a minute, but after refilling the Reservoir a second time the pump came back to life. All is well now.
