egr test plates shouldn’t cause your light to come on? I’ve had mine blocked since day 1, never had an engine light for that.

If you left the EGR valve present and plugged in, the light will not come on. If it is removed or disconnected, the light comes on. If preferred, the simple fix is plug the EGR valve in. The light can go out at the new owners discretion.
