Roxor Ownership
Roxor Owner
Howdy, I'm new to the Roxor but not to Willys/Jeep, I have several. I traded some Silver and Gold for this 2018 with 1200 miles a few months ago, a nearly new blank slate that had never seen mud! She's a fine machine and built like a tank! But I can't leave anything alone so she's gettin some custom work, I'm adding CJ5 door openings, CJ5 Chrome grill, CJ5 Dashboard, GPS speedo, All mechanical gauges and an hour meter , CJ5 windshield, 3" double pipe bumpers front and rear and rollbar. CJ5 implement bar on the rear, vintage Willys steering wheel, Skid plates for oil pan, clutch cylinder and transfer case and a 9000lb winch. Also she got torq lock lockers front and rear, Lock out hubs on the front, 2.5 exhaust from the turbo back, muffler delete, CAT delete, EGR delete and Diesel freak stage 2 tune, 32x11.50x15 mudder truckers all around on aluminum slotted wheels and 2" front leveling lift. I've bolted the rear door closed and added a bottom support on the bumper so it better supports the spare tire and fuel cans. New heavy equipment seats, they look more like Jeep and are much more comfortable. The CJ dash and windshield bolted on with the roxor mounting holes. It's been a bunch of welding both on the body and frame. The frame welds were normal and welded fine with my MIG. The body however is made of steel but not the same steel as the CJ5 donor. The Roxor steel has a lower melting point so I had to factor that in when welding, not a problem. Paint is still coming both body and undercarriage. The undercarriage will be black and the body will be OD Green Gloss a hard color to find but I found it in .gov aircraft paint. I'm also painting the interior gloss black over the bed liner that's there, it will smooth out the sandpaper feel of the raw bedliner. I'll be driving her soon with a full size plate. I also have a jeep junkyard with several CJ5's and my state, Tennessee, doesn't have any inspections, you can guess how I got tags on my 1979 CJ5, she's now tagged and insured. Here's some pictures.

CJ5 doors is definitely different. Most folks who spend that much time and effort open them up for a CJ7 or YJ/TJ door to work. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Yours is gonna stand out.

The stock Roxor doors are YJ, I prefer the vintage look so CJ5's it is. I'll also be building some half door to fit. This is not my first rodeo...

They’re actually narrower than a YJ I believe. Everything is just ever so slightly off from any jeep part being a bolt on, even the CJ body parts. You’d think a short nose CJ5 hood would be identical but it’s not. Same with the fenders. And the grill as your finding out. All close but that only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and occasionally sex.

Just a hair off, yes. I was surprised the dash and windshield bolted on using the roxor holes and all the windshield bolts went into the threaded holes. I think a whole CJ5 front clip would work, but your correct the fenders are 1" off and the grill is about 2" wider, the hood is also 2" wider than CJ5. The rad support is identical to a 1968 CJ5 except for where the grill snaps in and it is 1" on either side wider. My factory chrome overlay is glued on with body panel adhesive. BTW I've always heard Atom bomb, but sex works too...
